Dog in blizzard
Tech info: Canon Powershot SX 20 IS, 1/320, f 5.0, ISO 160, handheld in howling winds with gust up to about 30 mph. Midday, not that you can tell, handheld.
Comment: We were going to hike up to the top of the Palmer lift on Timberline Ski area on Mt. Hood to look for a climber's pack. The climber had stashed his pack for a day hike and got caught in a snow storm on the way down over Christmas. We met up with him and hiked back up. When we left the parking lot, it was clear, within about an hour, we were in whiteout conditions. This photo was taken at the Silcox Hut, but visibility was about 20 or so feet. We continued up a few more hundred yards in elevation but we turned back when the wind was starting to push the dog around (she is about 75 lbs.). Needless to say, she was not having much fun as the snow was blowing hard, even though she typically loves snow.
